WOW!! I can’t believe how good I feel. On Thursday I had an RF nerve burn done on all 8 lumbar medial branch nerves. I expected to feel like crap and be in agony from the procedure pain based on my past experience with another pain doctor but this is amazing so far.
I know it will hurt eventually. Doctor Wada at the North Fulton Pain & Spine Center warned me what could happen. I know what to expect this time and that makes it a lot less scary. I’ll show you a picture of the pin cushion in my lower back. If you want to see it click the tiny pic but be warned it’s a picture of needle holes, in my back. 🙂 This along with my Ketemine infusion just a couple of weeks ago I’m really hopeful to have a reduced pain November and December this year.
Enough about pain, lets look at what’s on the workbench. Today I’m punching out poinsettia flowers like crazy with my new punch from Stampin’ Up. I’m using some super fun glitter paper and they are turning out great!
These are going to look so good. I can’t wait to get these on a card.
Packing up everything for the craft fair tomorrow. Hope to see you there.
It’s All Hallows Eve (or Halloween) and I’m still making treat bags and boxes to give out tonight. I got up early and found this cute Wickedly Sweet Treat kit from Paper Pumpkin and had to get it done.
these little bags are adorable and so easy and fun to make.
So cute! A few lucky kids will get these tonight.
Also had this really pretty Paper Pumpkin kit pictured below. It’s going to the craft show next Saturday at Cumming First Baptist Church
Next Saturday Nov 7, is the Craft Fair from 9-3 at Cumming First Baptist Church. See you there.
It was a pretty busy week. I got out and about but is wasn’t all fun and games. My little baby Dixie had to go to the vet for some minor surgery. She developed some bumps on her chest, I panicked and the Vet said they should be removed. Our Vet, Dr Esbeck from the Sawnee Animal Clinic is super good and has taken care of all my babies for the last 10 years or more. Dixie is doing great. She is tolerating the stitches and has not needed the cone of shame.
My infusion therapy was awesome! The Doctors cranked the dose up and I feel great this week.
The awesome box of punches below got delivered Tuesday. I guess I ordered them while I was a little bit foggy after my infusion because I sure don’t remember it. But heck who doesn’t like a box of EK punches!! This takes care of all the square one’s I’ve been jonesing for.
I’ve gotten behind on my Paper Pumpkin sets too. Here are 2 that I still need to get through.
Finally this week I’ve got to get ready for the fall craft fair at Cumming First Baptist Church on Nov. 7th from 9:00 am till I don’t know when. Stop by and say Hi and grab up some great Christmas Cards.
I didn’t get into the work room this week so the work bench is empty. I did get my pain infusion therapy this week. They increased my dosage and I do feel a whole lot better. I did get to go to a card making class Thursday night it was fun I think. Here’s a picture of the card I made.
I don’t even remember making this card but it sure is pretty. Thanks to my best friend Rita for taking me and taking care of me while we were there. BTW: Rita, you’re going to have to show me how to make this card again. Thursday night is real foggy.
I got all my little boo bags filled up for all the little ghosts and goblins for Halloween here’s some pictures.
That’s all for this week. I am feeling a lot better now that I got the infusion so look for great things this coming week from the Card Doc’s workbench.
Had a tough week. The damp weather really hurts. The back procedure did help a little and next week I go in for my long overdue infusion therapy. I did get into the card room a little bit and did get a couple new things checked off the list.
With the help of my awesome husband we did a couple of the iris flowers with different pastel techniques. One was done with the soft pastel sticks and the other with the oil pastels. I did the soft and Larry did the oils. I think they both turned out nice.
I’ve got a long way to go learning to “paint” these flowers but I got the totally awesome “Pan Pastels” that Susan uses in all her videos and I’m looking forward to learning how to use these. I’m so lucky to be married to Larry. He was selected employee of the month at work, got a $50 gift card and immediately went to Blick’s Art Supply and used that gift card to buy me the Pan Pastels.
One of my pain treatment doctors had a baby so I made him and his wife a super extra special baby card. I’ll get to give it to him this coming week when I go in for infusion. Here’s my blog readers sneak peek.
Made another special wedding card. This might get to be a habit.
And now for a little fun off the workbench, Halloween is right around the corner and the neighbors in the hood are getting all into it this year with porch decorations so I had to jump in as well. We drug out a bunch of goodies and made the porch a little bit festive and we have our new Dachshund Skeleton chewing on a foot.
And it wouldn’t be Halloween around here with out boo bags. and I made really nice ones this year. Hope the kids enjoy them.
That’s it from the workbench this week. Not sure how much I’ll get done this coming week, two days will be taken up with the infusion therapy.
A new section for Card Doc starts today. I’m going to try real hard to post something every week about my cards. What’s on the workbench will be snap shots of projects or cards I’m working on. This will give everyone a peek into how I work and maybe show some of the processes in designing and making a card.
This week I went flower crazy. I stumbled onto a Susan’s Garden link from Sizzix and just fell in love with her flowers. So I just had to have some. 🙂
My first flower is sitting there above the framelett label. I love the way they work but wasn’t too happy with the color. Soooo I had to get some new stuff to make realistic looking flowers. I’m going to try pastels.
And some water color pencils. I’ll be learning and playing and experimenting with all my new goodies this coming week. Hopefully my back will hold up better. I had a treatment last Wednesday to help with the lower back bulging disks in the lumbar part. So far it’s working. I hope it lasts a while.
Last week I did some wedding cards and my main web guy and photographer (that’s my husband) will be posting a wedding and baby card page, but for today here is a shot of one I made for a special friend.
Finally my husband surprised me with an order of stamps from rubber hedgehog. They have lots and lots of animal stamps and since I have a particular fondness for a certain long dog he got me a bunch of holiday wiener dog stamps that are just adorable.
Here’s frank-n-wienie and below is the bag sheet he made for me so I can find these awesome stamps next week.
One more trip to the doctor before the big July 4th show. I don’t talk (or type) much about it but pain is a bitch! I’ve had so much the past few years that this new therapy has been a huge turn around for me. I still have pain but it’s not a constant gnawing 8-10 level pain like it was just last year. Since the fibromyalgia therapy started the middle of last year I’ve actually enjoyed many days with a level 3 pain. This coming week I’m going in for a simple epidural to target the actual physical pain in my hips and lower back. These treatments have also been a big help and were only possible because of the fibromyalgia therapy which got rid of all the never pain long enough for the doctors (and me) to find the physical pain underneath it all.
We got our space assignment letter Wednesday. We will be in space 45-A (whatever that means) The craft show runs all day right up till dark. Please stop by and say hi. Let me know you saw this on CardDoc.net and I’ll give you a free card with every 4 you buy. (everybody else has to buy 5 to get the freebie)
Enough of my rambling, the bottom line is hopefully I’ll be able to handle the long long day in Marietta for the Fourth of July show. Here are all the cards and gift card holders, lots of gift card holders, I’ve made this past week. I’m so worried, anxious and excited about this first show. I’ve made so many cards and I hope it’s enough.
A new selection of beautiful Thank You cards have just been finished up. Some of my first cards were thank you cards for my doctors and nurses. So glad to be feeling better and making cards for lots of people.
CardDoc is your gateway to all things made by the creative genius of Lorraine. She began making cards as a form of therapy to ease the burden of constant chronic pain. The need to keep the mind busy with creative functional tasks created an inventory of amazing cards. Lorraine couldn’t send out enough cards and soon she began giving them away to friends and neighbors… then someone offered to buy some. From that moment and a suggestion of putting cards on Etsy, CardDoc was born.
In the posts that follow and on the pages here you will find links to the amazing cards and discover how you can share the beauty and keep Lorraine busy and not thinking about the constant pain.
This has just been setup April 23, 2015 so gives us a few days to get some content.
