Santa was very kind to me this year and upgraded my magic workshop from folding tables to some nice sturdy, clean efficient work desks and tables. I’m so lucky to have Santa living with me. 🙂
He apparently likes to shop at IKEA too.
My main work/assembly desk
Cutting and stamping and stamp storage
Stamping table and Big Shot+ in the background.
The new work space
Stay tuned, my next post will be loaded with the new cards I’ve been working on.
It’s All Hallows Eve (or Halloween) and I’m still making treat bags and boxes to give out tonight. I got up early and found this cute Wickedly Sweet Treat kit from Paper Pumpkin and had to get it done.
these little bags are adorable and so easy and fun to make.
So cute! A few lucky kids will get these tonight.
Also had this really pretty Paper Pumpkin kit pictured below. It’s going to the craft show next Saturday at Cumming First Baptist Church
Next Saturday Nov 7, is the Craft Fair from 9-3 at Cumming First Baptist Church. See you there.
Had a tough week. The damp weather really hurts. The back procedure did help a little and next week I go in for my long overdue infusion therapy. I did get into the card room a little bit and did get a couple new things checked off the list.
With the help of my awesome husband we did a couple of the iris flowers with different pastel techniques. One was done with the soft pastel sticks and the other with the oil pastels. I did the soft and Larry did the oils. I think they both turned out nice.
I’ve got a long way to go learning to “paint” these flowers but I got the totally awesome “Pan Pastels” that Susan uses in all her videos and I’m looking forward to learning how to use these. I’m so lucky to be married to Larry. He was selected employee of the month at work, got a $50 gift card and immediately went to Blick’s Art Supply and used that gift card to buy me the Pan Pastels.
One of my pain treatment doctors had a baby so I made him and his wife a super extra special baby card. I’ll get to give it to him this coming week when I go in for infusion. Here’s my blog readers sneak peek.
Made another special wedding card. This might get to be a habit.
And now for a little fun off the workbench, Halloween is right around the corner and the neighbors in the hood are getting all into it this year with porch decorations so I had to jump in as well. We drug out a bunch of goodies and made the porch a little bit festive and we have our new Dachshund Skeleton chewing on a foot.
And it wouldn’t be Halloween around here with out boo bags. and I made really nice ones this year. Hope the kids enjoy them.
That’s it from the workbench this week. Not sure how much I’ll get done this coming week, two days will be taken up with the infusion therapy.
A new section for Card Doc starts today. I’m going to try real hard to post something every week about my cards. What’s on the workbench will be snap shots of projects or cards I’m working on. This will give everyone a peek into how I work and maybe show some of the processes in designing and making a card.
This week I went flower crazy. I stumbled onto a Susan’s Garden link from Sizzix and just fell in love with her flowers. So I just had to have some. 🙂
My first flower is sitting there above the framelett label. I love the way they work but wasn’t too happy with the color. Soooo I had to get some new stuff to make realistic looking flowers. I’m going to try pastels.
And some water color pencils. I’ll be learning and playing and experimenting with all my new goodies this coming week. Hopefully my back will hold up better. I had a treatment last Wednesday to help with the lower back bulging disks in the lumbar part. So far it’s working. I hope it lasts a while.
Last week I did some wedding cards and my main web guy and photographer (that’s my husband) will be posting a wedding and baby card page, but for today here is a shot of one I made for a special friend.
Finally my husband surprised me with an order of stamps from rubber hedgehog. They have lots and lots of animal stamps and since I have a particular fondness for a certain long dog he got me a bunch of holiday wiener dog stamps that are just adorable.
Here’s frank-n-wienie and below is the bag sheet he made for me so I can find these awesome stamps next week.
Still working on building the inventory up for what I’m hoping will be a very successful show. Since it’s never really to early to plan for Christmas, this installment has a few more Christmas goodies.
Check out these super special gift tags. These keepsake tags will really show how much you care! Pick up 2 or 10 or more, heck they’re cheaper by the dozen.
Every tag is different and you’ll be able to mix and match any you like.
And speaking of tags, here are some special pocket tags perfect for all those gift cards you’ll be giving this year. Several designs to choose from as well.
Finally a simple Christmas card and we’ve got a lot of these. They will be available in sets. The inside has a white section with a stamped sentiment and plenty of room for your own message and signature.
See us July 4th at the Marietta Georgia Craft Fair, parade, carnival, fireworks and lot lots more.
Just for the Marietta July 4th Crafts fair I’ll have a very limited number of the step-accordion cards pictured below. There are just a very few of each, Birthday, Thank You and Get Well. These cards are so unique and special, they are sure to please the lucky recipient.
Each card is different. They are bright fun cards perfect for summer time giving and brightening up anyone’s day.
It’s been a busy week here at the Card Doc. We’re getting ready for the Marietta Craft Fair the 4th of July in Marietta Ga. and I’ve been making cards like a mad woman this Memorial Day weekend. My studio photographer dug out the 4th of July decorations and had fun with the newest batch of cards. They are all bright and festive cards with a definite summer flair to them. If you’d like to purchase any of our hand made cards contact us directly, leave a message or comment or visit our face book page. Better yet stop by and see us at the Marietta Craft Fair at the Square in Marietta on the 4th of July.
This card goes great with the gift bag below.
Something for that special friend you’ve known all your life.
It’s a tag and a card in one extra heavy Kraft envelope with a tie-on string. Great for those hard to wrap gifts for mom or dad.
Nothing says fun in the sun quite like flying a kite. Great card for that special summer time birthday.
That’s it for now. These increase the inventory about 50 cards. I can’t, won’t and don’t, just make one. :-). there are 5-10 of each available. See you in Marietta July 4th.
Lorraine (the card doc)
CardDoc is your gateway to all things made by the creative genius of Lorraine. She began making cards as a form of therapy to ease the burden of constant chronic pain. The need to keep the mind busy with creative functional tasks created an inventory of amazing cards. Lorraine couldn’t send out enough cards and soon she began giving them away to friends and neighbors… then someone offered to buy some. From that moment and a suggestion of putting cards on Etsy, CardDoc was born.
In the posts that follow and on the pages here you will find links to the amazing cards and discover how you can share the beauty and keep Lorraine busy and not thinking about the constant pain.
This has just been setup April 23, 2015 so gives us a few days to get some content.
